Doug's middle name is John

Introduction

Doug Buffone was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 1966 draft after attending the University of Louisville. Doug played 14 seasons as a Chicago Bear, from 1966 through 1980, making him the last Bears player to play under head coach George Halas. During the '72-'79 seasons Doug was the Defensive Captain for the Bears.

Doug played 186 games as a Bear. That's the third most-games-played among Bears

Doug had a career-high 158 tackles in 1972

Doug had 11 solo tackles vs. New Orleans (10/6/74)

Doug holds the Bears record for most career interceptions (24)

Doug holds the Bears record for most sacks in a season (18 in 1968)

Doug was voted into the Louisville Hall of Fame with Johnny Unitas in 1979

Doug currently resides in Chicago where he is still heavily involved in Chicago sports. Doug hosts Chicago NFL Live on The Score 670 AM, weekdays from 6-8 pm. Doug recently wrapped up an impressive 14 year run of the FOX Sports Net cable show The Doug Buffone Show. Doug is one of the owners of Digital One.
